First lit in 1867, the original Fresnel lens remains intact and in use. With a range of 17.8 nautical miles, the lighthouse provides a reliable reference point for navigating the rich but demanding waters along the coast.

Ona Lighthouse retains its original authenticity and holds significant cultural and historical value. The lighthouse station is also a protected bird conservation area under the Norwegian Nature Conservation Act.
